Letter 1 – Lukewarm Christians

Letter 1Dear everyone who professes to be Christian,

Are you truly a believer? Are you one that has truly repented and turned away from sin? Do you actually follow Christ? We all live in a world where it’s so easy to be a false Christian and live a double life. Why is it so easy for me to say that? Because I used to be one. I used to just go to church on Sundays and Wednesdays, and that would be it. But is that enough? Not at all. Being a Christian isn’t a part time job. It’s not just a title. It’s a lifestyle, a calling. I understand the nature of this world, the sinful nature. The atmosphere of this world is full of distractions that we idolize instead of Jesus Christ. I know how easy it is. We live in a world where we are so caught up on entertainment, politics and other things that we idolize instead of Christ. It’s sad to see Christians like this. But brothers and sisters before I go any further, let me give you information on why I am writing this letter. I am a teenager in the United States that has been called to do a big task: to wake lukewarm Christians up. Those that I used to be like. Those that just say they are a Christian but don’t carry out works or follow Christ like we are called to do. I am called to awaken them to show them that their path is incredibly destructive. That they believe they know God, but they really don’t. As Mathew 7:21-23 says,

21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

This verse is scary; however, this verse is extremely important. We all need to remember it. Here we have Jesus saying that people will profess but are not true Christians. This should open your eyes to show you the reality of how important it is to know if you are true or not. And this is the reality our world also. I have seen and met many people that profess to be believers but are not true. They don’t know Christ. I know what it’s like. Don’t be like that. Pray daily, study God’s word, evangelize, build the defense of your faith, help the needy, feed the poor. Do what the Lord commands us to do! What is the point of repentance if we don’t mean it? What’s the point of it if we keep crawling back to our sinful lifestyle!? God has given us more than we can ever ask for! And that’s his one and only son! His son died for you and I so we can have everlasting life. And do you know what we do? We say “It’s ok, Jesus forgives.” You’re right! He forgives but if you sin while knowing it’s sin then what you’re doing is taking advantage of his grace, and you’re being deceived by the devil. We all do it, but if you actually ask for forgiveness and try not to sin then that’s true repentance! We have all become so comfortable with our sinful lifestyles we don’t even recognize it. That’s why I have written this letter. There will be many, many more to come. So, as I close, I challenge you to do what the Lord has called you and commanded you to do. Pray for revival my brothers and sisters.

Shalom
